With The Brain Scoop in the Peruvian Amazon

In October 2014 the Field Museum's Chief Curiosity Correspondent, Emily Graslie, joined the museum's rapid inventory team to explore a remote area of Amazonian Peru. Over the next two weeks, she and cameraman Tom McNamara filmed nine episodes for The Brain Scoop. Here's an episode on the plant inventory, in which Corine Vriesendorp and I show Emily how the smell of the bark can be helpful when you're identifying trees in the Amazon.

Includes Emily's immortal line: "It smells like a new car... if you had a key lime pie in a leather Porsche...."
